They were founded in 1880 and has the longest streak in the Danish top division. they have won the Danish Superliga 5 times and have also won the Danish cup a record 9 times. their best achievement in Europe came in the 1960/61 season where they reached the quarter finals stage, loosing on aggregate 7-2 to eventual winners Benfica. They also reached the quarter finals of the European Cup Winners Cup in 1989.
