Al-Ahly are an Egyptian football team who were founded in 1907. They are regarded as being the most successful club in their country and were crowned African club of the century in 2000. The team is estimated to have in the region of 40-50 million supporters and have a fierce rivalry with Zamalek.
The club began to dominate the Egyptian game in the 1940s when they won the first ever Egyptian domestic league in 1949. To date they have won the nation's Premier division a record 34 times, the latest arriving in 2009. Even so, Al-Ahly have an even more formidable record in the Egyptian Cup which they have won on 35 occasions, the latest in 2007.

The team has also continued their dominance throughout the continent as they have won the African Champions League on six occasions, the most recent in 2008.The Egyptians have also competed in three of the six FIFA World Club Cup championships due to their domestic and continental success.
On two occasions, they have finished in 6th place. However, in 2006 they put in their best showing with a 3rd place finish after winning the 3rd/4th place match with Club America.
