Deportivo Alaves are a Spanish football club who currently play in the Segunda Division and their home shirts are supplied by Nike. Their home shirts are blue and white striped and they have won a total of three Segunda Division titles, four Third Division titles and six Fourth Division titles and they were famously runners-up in the 2000-01 UEFA Cup.
Formed in 1921, Deportivo Alaves play at the 19,900 capacity Estadio Mendizorroza, in Vitoria, Basque Country, competiting in the Spanish La Liga. They came to notice to football fans outside Spain when they were runners up to Liverpool in the exciting UEFA Cup Final of 2001, losing 5-4 in extra time, conceding a golden goal.
Famous names to have worn the Alaves shirt include Ivan Campo & Jordi Cruyff and famous coaches including Ferenc Puskas, Luis Costa, Mane and Pepe Mel.
Alavés were relegated after 2002–03, it regained top flight status two years later. In the 2005–06 season, the club was relegated back to the second division. After two years of battling with relegation to the third level, it eventually befell in 2008–09.
