FC Augsburg is a German football club who play in the Bundesliga 2. The team was originally founded in 1907 as Alemania Augsburg. 2021/22 Augsburg Home Shirt

FC Augsburg wears an unorthodox-looking red and green striped Nike home shirt for 2021/22 as a nod to their colours in 1969 when the club emerged after the fusion of TSV Schwaben and BC Augsburg. The classic pattern covers the sleeves and the front side, interrupted only by the plain round collar.

FC Augsburg participates in the 2021/22 Bundesliga season with a Nike away shirt. The dominant pattern on the jersey is the white and light grey checkered pattern, a design similar to that of the Croatia Euro 2020 away jersey, across the entirety of the shirt. The sleeve cuffs and v-collar are also in light grey.

Since the Bundesliga was formed in 1963, Augsburg has spent the majority of their time in the third tier. They managed two seasons in the second tier during the 1960s before fluctuating between the lower divisions for the next thirty years. Augsburg’s most successful season came in the 1973/73 campaign where the team missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga by just one point.

In more recent times, the club overcame a financial crisis to advance up the divisions in the early noughties before confirming their return to Bundesliga 2 in 2006/07.

Since their return, the club have comfortably avoided the drop zone. In fact, the 2009/10 season saw them finish in 3rd place, narrowly missing out on a first ever season in the top tier of German football.
