Ayr United FC was founded in 1910 after the merging of Ayr Parkhouse Football Club and Ayr Football Club. The team is based in Ayr, in the South-West of Scotland. The team is nicknamed The Honest Men after a poem by Robert Burns called Tam o.Shanter:

.Auld Ayr, wham ne.er a town surpasses,
For honest men and bonie lasses.

Ayr United is managed by former Scottish football Brian Reid and currently play their home games in Somerset Park, with a capacity of 12128 fans. Ayr United play in the Scottish Second Division. One of the most notable players ever to grace Ayr United FC was Sir Alex Ferguson, who ended his playing career at the Scottish club in 1973/74.
