César Azpilicueta is a Spanish defender who plays for English club Chelsea and the Spain national team. Azpilicueta played over 50 matches for Spain at youth level and he made his Spain debut in February 2013 against Qatar in a 3-1 win.
Azpilicueta was born on the 28th of August 1989 in Pamplona, Spain and he began his club career at local club Osasuna making his La Liga debut on the 8th of April 2007 in a 2-0 loss to Real Madrid. The Spanish youngster started his career as a midfielder and in the 2007-08 season he switched to right back.
In June 2010 Azpilicueta signed for French club Marseille for Ã¢â€šÂ¬7 million and on his UEFA Champions League debut he scored an own goal in a 1-0 loss to Spartak Moscow. In late 2010 he suffered a serious knee injury which put him out for six months. The Spanish defender helped the club to win the 2010 and 2011 Trophee des champions and the 2010-11 and 2011-12 Coupe de la Ligue.
In August 2012 Azpilicueta signed for Chelsea for £7 million. and according to his Chelsea team mate he is 'He is a strong running right-back who has pace as well, so I think he is already a complete player.' He made his Chelsea debut on the 25th of September 2012 in a 6-0 drubbing against Wolves in the League Cup. The defender played an important part in the club's 2012-13 Europa League campaign helping the club to their first ever title.
