Bahrain are a national team which currently plays in the AFC confederation and they wear an all red kit white white trim for their home kit. The nation narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup where they lost to OFC side New Zealand in the qualifying match. The nation won the FIFA's most improved team award in 2004, and finished fourth in the 2004 Asian Cup, beating Uzbekistan in the quarter-finals but losing to Japan in the semi-finals 4–3.
The Bahrain national football team is the national team of the Kingdom of Bahrain. It is controlled by the Bahrain Football Association. The team was founded in 1951 and join FIFA in 1966. They are currently ranked 82 in the FIFA rankings with their highest ever ranking being 44 in September 2004. Currently, Bahrain are participating in the World Cup 2010 qualifiers. They are competing against Japan, Oman and Thailand in Group B.
Their biggest win came in June 2004 against Kyrgyzstan beating them 5-0. They reproduced such big scoreline against Turkmenistan in August 2005.
