Michy Batshuayi is professional footballer that currently plays as a striker in the Premier League for London club Chelsea FC and also for his national team of Belgium. Batshuayi is renowned for his raw pace, powerful style of play, and emphatic finishing which has led to comparisons with Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
Born in the Belgium capital of Brussels, Batshuayi played youth football for an array of well known academies within the country including Brussels on two occasions before settling at Standard Liege. Graduating from Standard Liege's youth ranks after three seasons of guidance and nurturing, Batshuayi made his first team appearance against Gent and subsequently went onto make 120 appearances and return with 44 goals.
Impressing not only within Belgium however also clubs in France, Ligue 1 team Marseille were made aware of his talents and signed Batshuayi for £4.5 million and was instantly made an important player for the French club making 78 appearances and scoring 33 goals. After representing Belgium within Euro 2016, Premier League club Chelsea looked to fill the void since Didier Drogba's departure by signing the young player for €35 million and handed the number 23 shirt.
After making an impact with Belgium's U21's, scoring seven goals in 13 matches, Batshuayi has now stepped up into the first team and scored in the finals of Euro 2016 and looks to be set for a bright international future.
