Bayer Leverkusen were founded on July 1st 1904, established by Friedrich Bayer and Company. The club is an athletics and basketball club as well as the better known football side, who play in the German Bundesliga. Bayer play their home games at the BayArena.

Thomas Hortser holds the record for the most number of club appearances with 404 and Ulf Kirtsen holds the record for the most number of goals with 182.
