Daley Blind is a Dutch footballer who plays for the Netherlands national football team and Manchester United. Blind was selected by Louis van Gaal to play in the Netherlands side at the 2014 World Cup. The Dutchman was a star for the side helping Netherlands to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
Blind was born on the 9th of March, 1990 in Amsterdam, Netherlands and he began his club career at Ajax which was the club his father Danny Blind began his career. As a product of the Ajax youth academy Blind made his professional debut in December 2008. Blind was then loaned out to Groningen for some much needed playing experience. His return to the club saw Ajax win two straight Eredivisie titles. The Dutchman played over 100 matches for the club winning four Eredivisie and one Johan Cruijff Shield titles.
A call-up to the Netherlands squad for the 2014 World Cup put Blind in the spotlight as he signed a 14 million pound move to Manchester United. Blind was re-united with manager Louis van Gaal and Robin van Persie.
Having played for almost every Netherlands youth level side Blind made his senior debut for the club in February 2013 against Italy in an international friendly. Blind played a major role for Netherlands at the 2014 World Cup playing in the left wing back position. He assisted the famous diving header goal for fellow Manchester United player Robin van Persie against Spain in the group stages. The match ended 1-5 to Netherlands. Netherlands were knocked out by Argentina in the semi-finals of the tournament.
