The Chinese national football team currently play in the AFC confederation and they are most notably known for wearing an all red home kit which is supplied by adidas. The nations highest ever ranking was 37 in December 1998 and they have only reached the FIFA World Cup on one occasion in 2002. They have never won the AFC Asian Cup and their best ever position was runners-up in the 2004 tournament.
China played their first international against the Philippines on 1st February 1913, losing 2-1, their first match as the People's Republic of China was a 4-0 loss to Finland in 1952. China made their first appearance at a World Cup Finals in 2002, they didn't score a goal and failed to progress from their group.
