Fabricio Coloccini is an Argentine footballer who plays for English club Newcastle United and the Argentina national team. Coloccini has had an eventful career playing for several different clubs including Boca Juniors, AC Milan, Deportivo la Coruna and Newcastle United.
Coloccini was born on the 22nd of January 1982 and he began his club career at Boca Juniors in 1998. He made ust two appearances scoring one goal before moving to Europe with AC Milan. Coloccini found it difficult to break through to the first team and he went through a series of loan spells and San Lorenzo, Alaves, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal from 2000 to 2004.
In 2004 he signed a permanent deal with Deportivo la Coruna on a six year deal and during his three and a half year stint he helped the club to win the 2008 UEFA Intertoto Cup. In 2008 he signed for English club Newcastle United for £10.3 million. He made his club debut in a 1-1 away draw against Manchester United. Since his debut he has been one of the most consistent players in the team.
Newcastle were relegated in the 2008-09 season and helped the club to gain promotion to the Premier League in the 2009-10 season where the club won the Championship. In July 2011 Coloccini was named club captain for the 2011-12 season and he formed a unique partnership with Steven Taylor for the following few seasons. Coloccini made his debut for Argentina in 2003 and played in the 2006 FIFA World Cup and he helped the club to gain promotion to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
