Cruzeiro are one the of top teams in Brazil's Serie A, nicknamed Raposa, they play at the 81,987 capacity Mineirao ground in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The team were formed originally in 1921 as a team for an Italian colony called Belo Horizonte. Cruzeiro's shirt colours were the same as the Italian flag, green, red & white. When Brazil joined World War II in 1942, the club were made to change their name as Italy were the enemy and they became Cruzeiro and got new shirt colours. They wear blue shirts and white shorts & socks for home games and the reverse strip is a white away shirt, with blue shorts & socks.

In 1976 and again in 1997 Cruzeiro won South America's main cup competition the Copa Libertadores and has won their state championship on 32 occasions in their history. It wasn't until 2003 that they managed to win their first Brazilian league title. They were the first Brazilian team to win the domestic triple crown, by also claiming the state championship and the domestic cup.
Famous players to have pulled on the blue Cruzeiro shirt include goalkeeper Dida, Edilson, Edmundo, and world cup winning greats Jairzinho, Rivaldo and Ronaldo.
