Dante Bonfim Costa Santos is a Brazilian footballer who plays for German giants Bayern Munich and the Brazil national team. Known as a late bloomer Dante is most notably known for his strength, power, tackling and aerial prowess making him one of the most feared defenders in Germany.
Born on the 18th of October 1983 Dante began his club career at Juventude in 2002 before moving to French club LOSC Lille in 2004. In 2006 Dante signed for Belgian club Charleroi then Standard Liege in 2007. He began to make a name for himself in 2009 when signing for German club Borussia Monchengladbach.
He made his club debut in March 2009 in a 1-0 loss to VfL Bochum. His first goal for the club came against VfL Wolfsburg in a 2-1 loss. Having shown his best form Dante signed for German giants Bayern Munich in April 2012 for Ã¢â€šÂ¬4.7 million. He has helped the club to win several major titles including the 2012-13 UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal titles.
Dante made his debut for Brazil against England in January 2013 where they lost 2-1 and he scored his first international goal against Italy in the Confederations Cup in which the nation also won beating Spain 3-0 in the final. Dante looks to be a key player for Brazil in future years.
