Daniele De Rossi is an Italian footballer who plays for AS Roma in the Serie A and the Italy national football team. Born in Rome De Rossi has spent the entirety of his career at the Italian club.
Born on the 24th of July 1983 De Rossi joined the youth system in 2000 and he made his first team debut in 2001 against Belgian side Anderlecht in the Champions League. He made his Serie A debut in January 2003 against Como and his first goal for the club came against Torino in May 2003. De Rossi helped AS Roma to win two Coppa Italia titles and one Supercoppa Italiana title. Despite not winning a Serie A title De Rossi has been runners-up on five occasions and runners-up with the same amount in the Coppa Italia.
De Rossi has won several individual awards including the 2006 Serie A Young Footballer of the Year, 2009 Italian Footballer of the Year and Euro 2012 Team of the Tournament. He also holds the Roma All-Time appearance maker with Italy with over 100 games.
Having played for Italy at several youth levels De Rossi made his debut for Italy in a 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Norway in which he also scored his first for Gli Azzurri. De Rossi was pivotal at the 2006 FIFA World Cup campaign helping his nation to their fourth FIFA World Cup triumph beating France in the final. He remained a regular for Italy for several years after the World Cup. De Rossi is most notably known for his aggressive approach to the game being one of the most feared defensive midfielders in the game.
