Djurgardens was founded on the 12The of March 1891. The club currently plays in the Swedish Allsvenskan, playing their home games at Stockholms Stadion, Stockholm which has a capacity of 14,417 seats.The clubs biggest victory was in 1990 when they beat Hammarby IF 9-1. The club are one of the most successful clubs in Swedish football.
The club play in sky blue and dark blue striped shirts and have been Swedish champions over fifteen times. Djurgården's supporters have been organizing themselves through supporter clubs since 1947 when DIF Supporters Club was founded. The 1970s saw singing supporter sections emerging with led to a new supporter club to be founded in 1981, named the Blue Saints. They are heavily influenced by English supporter culture, which was prominent in supporter clubs throughout Sweden. The supporters club changed name in 1997 since the old name was perceived to be associated with violence. The 2000s saw the creation of independent ultra groups.

The oldest active ultras group, Ultra Caos Stockholm, formed in 2003 is mostly influenced by southern European supporter culture.
Djurgården's supporters also have a group, known as Fabriken Stockholm and formed in 2005, responsible creating tifos for important games such as derbies. The club have had the likes of Teddy Sheringham play for the club.
