The Egyptian national football team play in the CAF confederation and they play their home matches in red shirts with white trim and white shorts. The African nation have been one of the most dominant football clubs in the continent where they have won the Africa Cup of Nations on seven occasions and have appeared in the FIFA World Cup on two occasions.
Nicknamed the Pharaohs, Egypt play in the African section of World Cup qualifying. Egypt won the very first African Nations Cup in 1957, and won the competition in 1959, 1986, and 1998. Egypt were the first African country to make it to the World Cup in 1934, they lost to Hungary 4-2. Egypt have been back to the world cup just once since, getting knocked out in the first round in 1990.
