El Salvador play in the CONCACAF confederation and they play in an all blue home kit with white trim and they are nicknamed 'La Selecta'. Also one of the teams on the UNCAF confederation meaning Central America they have competed in the FIFA World Cup on two occasions in 1970 and 1982.

2021/22 El Salvador Home Shirt
La Selecta wears an all-blue Umbro home shirt for 2021/22. The only design applications on the raglan-sleeved shirt are the white logos and the dark blue rear of the stylised crew-cum-V collar that stops just past the front seam. The side panels are also dark blue. Another standout design is the choice of placing the crest on the right sleeve, with the acronym ES taking up the usual space for the team logo.

El Salvador plays with an all-white Umbro away jersey for 2021/22. The stylised henley-buttoned shirt also has the crest on the right sleeve and the acronym ES on the left chest, just like its home counterpart. The logos contrast with their blue colouring.

The El Salvador national football team played their first international against Costa Rica losing seven nil in Guatemala City, Guatemala on September 14th, 1921.
They do not feature often in the top ranks, but have made two World Cups, but lost all six games they have played, including a World Cup record 10-1 defeat against Hungary in 1982.
Leonel Carcamo holds the record for the most number of appearances with 86 and Raul Diaz Arce holds the record for the most number of goals with 39.
