Equatorial Guinea playing in their all red strip have never participated in a major international competition but will get their first chance in 2012 when they co-host and play in the African Cup of Nations. Scheduled as the home team in each of their fixtures Equatorial Guinea will not be required to play in their alternate white strip.
Equatorial Guinea played their first international against the Peoples Republic of China in 1975 where they lost 6-2. Since then they have slowly improved and in March 2008 they achieved their highest ever FIFA ranking of 64.
On 7 September 2011 Nzalang Nacional, as they are nicknamed, recorded their largest win in a 3-0 victory over the Central African Republic national football team.
Equatorial Guinea wears a red and white uniform. The kit manufacturer is Hummel. When they play in Equatorial Guinea, they wear a solid red jersey and matching shorts with a white stripe around both sleeves and two white stripes from the hip down.
