Eto'o was born in Douala, Cameroon on the 10th March 1981 as Samuel Eto'o Fils. Known for his technical ability as a striker an impressive positioning and goal scoring ability Samuel currently plays in the Premier League for Chelsea. Eto'o was African Footballer of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and has twice been in the FIFPro World XI team of the year. Eto'o signed a deal with English club Chelsea at the start of the 2013-14 season and in the summer of 2014 Eto'o signed for Everton.
He started his career in Spanish football at Club Deportivo Leganes and then made three appearances for Real Madrid. He next played for Real Mallorca where he was the club's top league goal scorer ever netting 54 times. Such form interested Barcelona and they signed him for &euro:24 million in 2004, Madrid president Florentino Perez had decided Real did not need another striker as they already had Ronaldo & Raul. Since then Eto'o has scored two goals every three games for Barca in a return that must have left wondering 'what if' he hadn't let him slip by.
On the international stage Eto'o has won a Gold Medal at the 2000 Olympics, two African Nations Cups and appeared in a Cameroon shirt at the World Cup finals. He was just fifteen when he made his first appearance in a friendly and in 1998 he was the youngest player at the 1998 FIFA World Cup Finals in France.
