adidas Release 125th Anniversary Shirt for Italy
We all know that the Italy national team mark their place in football history with predominantly blue kits. Especially during recent successes, from Cannavaro lifting up the 2006 World Cup trophy to Bonucci and Chiellini’s defensive anchoring for the Euro 2020 title, the winning moments replay on every reel with the players in their typical blue outfits. But to celebrate the national team’s 125th anniversary, adidas opted for the other colour normally associated with Italian international football.
Usually the go-to colour for the secondary strips, white now comes in full bloom for the commemorative Italy shirt. That’s not to say the shirt does not have any other details, but at least for the base the kit has that spotless and pristine aura. Considering it’s also a limited edition celebratory shirt, this might end up more as a collector’s item rather than actual match jersey at least on lower levels. The kit is set to be debuted though by Italy in this years UEFA Nation’s League finals.
White is classy already by itself, but doubling down the elegance is the golden finish of the adornments like the template shoulder stripes and adidas performance logo. The laurel wreath and the 125th anniversary branding underneath the crest, plus its shield outline and letterings, are also given the golden treatment. To wrap up the overall look that is inspired by the kit worn by Italy in its inaugural match in 1910, the outfit with prominent crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs employ a bit of looseness with its fit.
