adidas Unveil 2023 Women’s World Cup Kits

Just a few months away from the biggest stage of women’s football, adidas unveil its 2023 Women’s World Cup kits, to be worn across the games in Australia and New Zealand. As the host countries pride themselves with beautiful landscapes, adidas intend for the kits to showcase their respective countries’ breathtaking sceneries, guided by the overarching theme of ‘inspired by nature.’ We’ve already seen some of the kits earlier like that of Italy’s, so for this collective release a total of six nations have been added to those that are ready to rock their outfits in the tournament. The revealed strips are all away kits, and it remains to be seen whether new home kits would soon be released

Argentina

We start the adidas nature kits with the mountain ranges of Argentina, specifically the Serranía de Hornocal in the north and Ushuaia in the south. Against a black base is a grainy application of teal, with a mix of white around the bottom to produce a negative-like image of the majestic landform. A half-and-half colour design of orange and pastel green takes up the shoulder and sleeve cuff striping.

Colombia

Caño Cristales is one, if not the most prominent of rivers in Colombia, mainly because of its spectacular ‘Liquid Rainbow’ appearance. adidas decides to take on these striking colours onto the nation’s 2023 away kit, primarily through the bluish and pinkish hues of the shirt as well as the water-like melange graphic. Yellow stands out as the accent to the shoulder stripes and logos.

Germany

From mountain ranges and rivers, we now go on to the wood lands to find the inspiration of the Germany away kit. You can literally wear the shirt as a camouflage as you go right at the heart of the Black Forest or Zauberwald. The dark tealish projection of the shirt is matched with a timeless combination of black and a sandy shade of gold.

Japan

Go to Mount Fuji and behind it is a beautiful pinkish sky illuminated by the sunrise. That’s exactly what the Japan adidas away kit represents with its mainly pink and purple colours. There is a noticeable hard shift between the colours around the chest area, though adidas keeps up the artistic flavour with the ragged demarcation like how it is of a coastline. A deeper tone of pink punctuates the shoulder striping and collar trim.

Spain

And speaking of coastlines, Spain’s women national football team takes inspiration from its vast coastlines for their light blue away jersey. It is adorned with purplish visuals around the shirt’s four corners to represent the famous coral reefs. The shirt keeps it steady for the accent on the logos and shoulder stripes as it opts to simply darken the shade of blue used for the base.

Sweden

Lastly, the ‘inspired by nature’ adidas kit collection is completed by the Sweden away kit and its two-tone blue aesthetics. The irregular patches that standout from the base symbolise the vast glacier rivers and ice caps of the country. And to further emphasise the Swedish identity, yellow fills out the side trims and shoulder stripings, completing the national colours.
