Borussia Dortmund Unveil Design For 2023/24 Home Kit
The Black and Yellows have announced the winner of the ‘Design the Kit’ Puma contest, and as such the club’s 2023/24 home kit look has now been unveiled. The winning design was submitted by Timo R. and came on top after a round of public voting. Including the Timo R.’s entry, a total of 9 designs were pre-selected to be judged by the fans themselves. Winning with a large margin, the look for the 2023/24 Puma Borussia Dortmund home is sure to have some warm reception from the supporters…
“100% identification: It should be a REAL home shirt. What makes a BVB home game special? The fans, the Yellow Wall and the stadium. 0% changeability: Stripes and patterns are nice, but if you change colours and the logo, leave out the stars… you know what I mean.”
-Timo R., winner of the Puma x Borussia Dortmund ‘Design the Kit’ 2023/24 Contest
First of, what makes a kit a Borussia Dortmund one is the combination of black and yellow. Timo R. chooses the traditional mellow shade of yellow instead of the electric, neonish one seen recently in some seasons. The orientation of the design is angled or slanted, in recognition of the website’s affinity to incorporating sash designs.
The shirt is mainly black towards the bottom half, allowing the entire kit to seamlessly transition to the black shorts. Just a few spaces above the solid black fill is the ragged and textured single black striping, a nod to the relation of coal to the roots of the Ruhr region. Capping of the design is the silhouette of the iconic Signal Iduna Park pylon, connected to the jagged diagonal and positioned on the right hand side of the wearer.
