Brazil Black Third Shirt 2011/12

Brazil are currently ranking 4th in the FIFA rankings. They were ranked 1st in the ranking between 1993 and 2007, and between 2009 and 2010. However, as at July 2011, they were ranking behind World Cup Champions Spain, World Cup finalists the Netherlands, and Germany respectively. In its history, the national football team of Brazil has won the FIFA World Cup a record 5 times, the Confederations Cup 3 times, and the Copa America 8 times, among other competition triumphs.

The national team will be wearing a new third kit in 2011 and 2012. The shirt is designed and supplied by Nike, whose Swoosh logo appears in yellow on the right side of the chest. The base colour of the shirt is black, including both sleeves. It has a horizontal yellow stripe on the chest, and a yellow stripe on the inside of the collar. At the back of the neck, the text ‘Brasil’ is printed in yellow.

  1. What’s with the T’s at the shoulders at the waist on the latest Nike shirts? Functional reinforcement? Or something to make it harder to fake?

  2. @ anson: The T-shapes are on the player’s jerseys only, not the replicas. By having the various seams of the kit melted together (and reinforced with various plastic t-shaped strips), it makes the shirt a few grams lighter than using standard stitching (as on the replicas). These lighter shirts supposedly help the players run faster. Or something like that.

  3. This is not the third shirt, is the goalkeeper shirt. See the brazilian team in the under 20 world cup.

  4. Right, that is not the third kit. Thats the keeper kit. I just watched the under 21s game agaisnt spain and im pretty sure the keeper had that shirt on.
