Mexico: Tigres UANL Home Shirt 2010

Mexican Premier League club Tigres, officially known as Club Deportivo Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, have unveiled their new home shirt for the 2010 campaign. The 2010 Torneo Bicentenario started on the 16th January and the team started off with a 1-0 win against Puebla. In the 2009 Apertura season, the team ranked 10th in the league table. Past successes include winning the Primera Division twice (1977/78 and 1981/82) and the Copa Mexico twice (1975/76 and 1995/96).

The new shirt resembles the shirt used in 1977/78 and 1981/82 when Tigres were crowned Champions. The shirt manufacturers are German world-renowned brand Adidas, but the design is slightly different from what we have come to expect from Adidas templates. The retro look of the shirt celebrates the 200th anniversary of Mexican Independence. The shirt is sponsored by Cemex, which are the owners of the club and one of the world’s biggest cement companies. The new home shirt is yellow, with blue as the secondary colour, being the two colours associated with the club. It has a horizontal blue stripe in the middle with Tigres written on it, just like in the 70s and 80s. The collar is blue and so are the sleeve edges, and Adidas trademark stripes on the shoulders. The complementary home shorts and home socks are also yellow with minor blue details. After seeing their city rivals Rayadas (Monterrey) win last season’s championship, their third in their history, Tigres are more determined than ever to add the title to their honours.

  3. Looks really good. I especially like the numbers, wish they’d used those as their standard numbering…

  4. You really hit the nail on the head with this post. There are darn few blogs other than sports, football, or cycling that I even bother to read.
