Championship side Burnley FC have officially unveiled the new firm that will sponsor their playing kits for the coming campaign. Samuel Cooke & Co Ltd will be the new shirt sponsors, located in Padiham. The company will only sponsor the Clarets for the 2009/10 season, but has also signed an agreement to sponsor the Bob Lord Stand in 22.5 thousand capacity Turf Moor stadium. The change in the type of sector is very significant. Their present sponsors are Holland’s Pie…unsurprisingly, pie manufacturers. Their 2-year long cooperation comes to a close later this year at the end of the season. Samuel Cook, a local-based firm established in 1845, deals in the fuel market UK-wide, and is one of the most successful market players.
Burnley’s new shirt will commemorate the 1960 Championship-winning shirt, and will be unveiled in the coming weeks. Both Chairmen were justly proud with the newly-agreed deal which will see the parties joining forces for one season. Their comments were:
“We are delighted to announce this partnership with Samuel Cooke and Co.”
“We feel is it important to build partnerships with local companies and, like Burnley Football Club, Cooke’s have a long and illustrious history in their own field.”
“I would like to think we are both brands that people can trust and following this announcement, we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Samuel Cooke and Co.”
“It’s a great link between two of the oldest companies in the area, Burnley FC are founder members of the football league and matched by the fact that they are currently challenging for promotion to the Premier League, and it’s a great opportunity for us to inject major investment into the club”
