SC Bastia 2015 Kappa “Furiani disaster” Commemorative Kit
Ligue 1 club SC Bastia have officially launched a special commemorative kit to honour the Furiani stadium disaster which occurred 23 years ago.
The disaster occurred on 5 May 1992 where 18 fans were killed when one of the terraces collapsed in the Armand Cesari Stadium. The new Kappa shirt uses the same kit template seen on the current kits for the club but uses a black base with a special royal blue, white and black hoop on the front. The club crest is enlarged to fit in the centre of the large hoop while a royal blue traditional styled collar and sleeve cuffs are used.
In reflection of the stadium disaster the phrase “Collectif du 5 Mai 92” is printed below the hoop design. The club will officially debut the new special kit when they take on Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1 on the weekend.
A nice tough to have a tribute shirt, it won’t win much admiration style wise but good to see the club thinking of the fans.
