FC Zurich are a Swiss football club who were founded in 1896. They won their first Super League title in 1902 before winning it again in 1924. However, the early years were largely unsuccessful for Zurich. Up until 1960, they largely interchanged between the top and second division before establishing themselves as one of the premier teams in Switzerland.
Between 1960 and 1981, the club underwent what's known as their golden years. During this period, the team won seven Swiss league titles and five Swiss cups. They also reached the semi finals of the European Championships in 1964 and 1977 where they lost to Real Madrid and Liverpool respectively. Nevertheless, the 80s and 90s proved very forgettable for the club as they once again fluctuated between the top and second division.
