Filipe Luis Kasmirski also known as Filipe Luis is a Brazilian footballer who returned to previous La Liga club Atletico Madrid after signing from Chelsea after just one season in the Premier League and also represents the Brazil national football team. The left back was born in Brazil and began his pro career with Figueirense in 2003. Filipe Luis has played for several teams throughout Brazil and Spain including, Real Madrid B, Deportivo la Coruna, Rentistas, Chelsea and his current club Atletico Madrid.


Born on the 9th of August 1985 Filipe Luis began his pro club career with local side Figueirense in 2003 before moving to Ajax in 2004. Despite not playing a match for the side's first team he learnt a lot from the likes of Rafael van der Vaart and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. In 2005 Filipe Luis moved to Rentistas in Brazil before signing a five year deal with Real Madrid playing for their B side in the 2005-06 season. Never playing for the Real Madrid senior side Filipe moved to Spanish side Deportivo la Coruna in 2006 on loan first and permanent in 2008.



In July 2010 Filipe Luis signed a five year deal with Atletico Madrid worth roughly 14 million euros. Filipe Luis left back role at the club was pivotal in the 2013-14 season where he helped the Spanish side to a La Liga title as well as reaching the 2014 Champions League Final against Real Madrid. The Brazilian also won a Europa League, Copa del Rey and UEFA Super Cup titles at the club. In July 2014 Filipe Luis signed for Premier League side Chelsea for roughly 16 million pounds. His debut for Chelsea came against Everton in an emphatic 3-6 win and his first goal came against Derby County in a League Cup quarter-final. After declaring how he never let go of Atletico Madrid, Luis would re-sign for the club for the 2015/16 season on a 4 year contract and a reported fee of £11 million.

Of Polish descent, Filipe Luis opted to play for his country of birth Brazil making his senior debut in 2009. Filipe Luis has often been the second or third left back pick for Brazil with the likes of Marcelo and Maxwell preferred.
