Gabon are an international team from Africa who are best known for competing in the early rounds of the African Cup of Nations during recent tournaments. The nation's most notable players is Pierre-Emericak Aubameyang who has played for the likes of Saint-Etienne, Borussia Dortmund, Lille, AS Monaco and AC Milan.

An impressive African Nations group stage saw them finish level on points with Zambia and Cameroon, once again. As all three teams were tied and level on goal difference, the positions were decided on goals scored. Unfortunately, Gabon missed out on the top two by courtesy of scoring one goal less than Cameroon.
They are certain to participate in the 2012 African Nations tournament due to co-hosting the event with Guinea. The team will hope to emulate their best performance in the competition which arrived in 1996 when they reached the quarter finals.
