Grimsby Town is an English football club that hails from Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire. They host their home games in Blundell Park, which has a 9,000 sitting capacity and has been their home ground since 1898. It is the most successful among Lincolnshire clubs in terms of the number of seasons spent in the English top-flight. It is also one of the few clubs to have competed in all five divisions of English football, so the Grimsby kit had seen it all in the nation’s footballing pyramid.

What separated Grimsby’s black and white vertical striping pattern in their 2023/24 Macron home relative to its entire history of such bespoke look was the relatively broad profile, leading to fewer striping than usual. The henley collar and the sleeves were black, allowing the sleeve cuffs to contrast well enough with their white with thin black trim finish. Grimsby’s founding year signed off at the back below the collar with a small white font.

Macron had the Lincolnshire-based club wear a predominantly red away shirt during the 2023/24 season. More than the white accents, the said alternate Grimsby kit had an eye-catching tonal pattern on the body. The said visual was comprised of crisscrossing diagonals, resulting to a fish net-look. Such aesthetic arguably was a nod to the club’s identity as the ‘Mariners’ and the active fishing industry in the town of Grimsby.

Grimsby Town Home 2022/23 KitGrimsby Town stuck with the usual black and white striped look for its 2022/23 Macron home shirt. Subtle fish graphics within the black stripes and the vertical one that underlaid the sponsor livery were notable novelties of the shirt. The traditional red accents came from the side trims of the white round collar and the dual-coloured parallel pinstriping on the centre of the sleeve cuffs.

The jersey stayed faithful to its traditional black and white striped look and added red accents via the sleeve cuffs and stylised collar. This colour detail created a timeless look despite the marketing for the outfit as 1982-inspired.

It opted for a royal blue base that was then designed with tonal pinstripes. The green accents from the sleeve cuffs and collar fell into the bright side to contrast with the deep shade of the base.

Grimsby Town FC were formed in 1878 and came from the old fishing area on the Humber river in North East Lincolnshire. Because of the active fishing industry in the area, the club went on to adopt the monicker the ‘Mariners.’ And just like any football club established in the 19th century, Grimsby Town had links to a local cricket club and the desire of the people to have a separate football group, one that would fill in the time after the end of the cricket season.

The club had several high moments that it can cherished for the rest of its existence. In 2023, it became the first one in FA Cup history to defeat five teams from higher divisions. It also scored a come-from-behind victory against title holders Liverpool in the third round of 2001/02 League Cup. In terms of the player club records, John McDermott had the most appearance with 754, while the 180 goals of Pat Glover still stood on top.
