Jordan Henderson's rise to professional football has been as consistent as his performances. Born on the 17th of June, 1990 in Sunderland he joined the respective city club at the tender age of 7. He stayed loyal to Sunderland climbing through their youth ranks and eventually making the senior team in 2008. A brief loan spell to Coventry City gave him some added experience before he returned to Sunderland for the 2009/10 season.

Henderson scored his first Premier League goal for the black cats against Manchester City on the 19th December 2009. His season was heralded as a success and resulted in him winning the Young Player of the Year award for that season.
The following season he continued to impress and was chosen as one of thirteen young players to watch in 2011 by FIFA. Sunderland manager Steve Bruce went as far as to say that he is ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œthe best young British footballer there isÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â.
Fabio Capello handed him a start for England against France when he was only 20 years of age after representing his country at age group levels. On the 8th of June 2011, Liverpool secured the services of the prodigious young talent for an undisclosed fee. Wearing the number 14 shirt Henderson scored his first Premier League goal for Liverpool in just his third start in a 3-1 victory against Bolton Wanderers at Anfield.
