For the 2023/24 season, Hibernian had their Joma-produced home shirt carry the traditional look of green body and white sleeves. But creating a novelty and distinguishing feature was the tonal horizontal pinstripes on the body. A singular green stripe on the sleeve cuffs and collar added another visual aesthetics to the shirt.

The tonal graphic on the front was a direct representation of the West Stand at Easter Road, celebrating the club’s connection to the historic home stadium. White mesh panels on the side completed the colour theme.

Hibernian Home 2021/22 KitHibernian FC sported a Joma home shirt for 2021/22. The jersey preserved the familiar look of green body and white sleeves but added a twist to the traditional design with the street map of Edinburgh printed on the top portion of the shirt. The colour hue also changed, starting with a bright shade on the top (making the map more visible) then transitioning to a dark tone with a solid fill towards the bottom. The sleeves also provided some activity as the cuffs contain parallel black and green pinstripes.

Hibernian was founded in 1875 by some of the Irishmen in the Cowgate section of Edinburgh. The name was actually derived from Hibernia, the ancient name for Ireland. Other symbols like the colour green, the Gaelic harp and the phrase Erin Go Bragh (meaning Ireland Forever) further emphasised the Irish roots of the club.

After the World War II, the Hibs experienced an era of success, which was spearheaded by what was collectively known as the ‘Famous Five.’ The term referred to the forward line of  Gordon Smith, Bobby Johnstone, Lawrie Reilly, Eddie Turnbull and Willie Ormond, widely regarded as “the finest ever seen in Scottish football”. The north stand of Easter Road is now dedicated to their honour.

The club play the Edinburgh derby where they play Hearts of Midlothian and it is known to be one of the oldest rivalries in world football.
