Club Atletico Independiente de Avellaneda is an Argentinian football club based in Avellaneda part of the Gran Buenos Aires area of Argentina. They formed in 1905 and play their home games at the 52,823 capacity Estadio Libertadores de America located metres from big rivals Racing Club who they play in the Avellaneda derby.
Independiente are most notably known for wearing red home shirts with white trim and they currently have 16 Primera Division titles to their name making the club one of the most dominant in Argentina. The club's away shirt usually sees an all white kit and the club have had several household names play for the side including Arsenio Erico, Manuel Seoane, Vincent de la Mata, Luis Ravaschino and Diego Forlan.

Independiente's original kit was white shirts and shorts, club president Aristides Langone saw British side Nottingham Forest's red kit and choose to change his team's to match they wore it for the first time in 1908.
