Jay Rodriguez is an English footballer who plays for Southampton and the England national football team. Beginning his club career at Burnley Rodriguez rose to fame when playing for Southampton forming a unique partnership with Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.
Rodriguez was born on the 29th of July 1989 in Burnley, England and he began his club career at local club Burnley in 2007. Rodriguez made his first team debut for the Clarets in December 2007 and he finished the 2007-08 season on loan at Stirling Albion. Rodriguez signed another loan deal with Barnsley in 2010.
Rodriguez's form rose during his last seasons at Burnley where he scored an impressive 21 league goals in 42 matches in his last season. In the summer of 2012 Rodriguez signed for Southampton on a four year deal with the fee to be around £7 million. In his debut Premier League season Rodriguez scored nine goals while in the 2013-14 season he scored many more.
Having played for England at the Under-21 level Rodriguez made his Three Lions debut in November 2013 in a 2-0 loss against Chile. He made his debut along with Southampton team mates Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.
