Atletico Mineiro striker Jo, was born JoÃƒÆ’£o Alves de Assis Silva in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 20th March 1987. He started his career with Corinthians where he played between 2003 and 2005, in his time there he scored 13 goals in 85 appearances. Jo is considered to be one of Brazil's first choice centre forwards along with Fred, Leandro Damiao and Alexandre Pato.
Jo really started hitting the back of the net after he transferred to CSKA Moscow in 2005, scoring 14 times in his first 18 games in Russia. By 2007 he had received his first national team call up and in 2008 he was part of the Olympic Bronze medal winning side.
In 2008 Jo moved to the Premier League of England with Manchester City, making his first league appearance against Sunderland, setting up the clubs first goal in a 3-0 away win. Jo then moved to Everton on two loan periods, then Galarasaray in 2010 before moving back to Brazil with Internacional in 2011. Jo now plays for Atletico Mineiro where he helped the side to win the 2013 Copa Libertadores and Campeonato Mineiro titles.
