Ngolo Kante is a Premier League defensive midfielder who plays for Chelsea FC after transferring from Leicester City in the Summer of 2016, and also the France national team. Kante is renowned across European football for his endless energy, ball winning ability, and similarities to counterpart Frenchman Claude Makelele.
Born in France's famous capital of Paris, Kante began his footballing journey with JS Suresnes where he developed over the course of nine seasons before making the switch to Ligue 2 club Boulogne. With Boulogne relegated in his first season, Kante became a key figure for the team despite his young age making 40 appearances which triggered a move to Caen and once again compete within Ligue 2.
Acting as a key figure in the midfield for his new club saw Caen finish second in the league and therefore promoted into France's top tier Ligue 1 the following season where Kante continued to capture attention from European clubs. Leicester City made Kante one of their key signings in 2015/16 in a deal worth €8 million with the player showing his worth by acting as arguably the team's key to success of achieving the impossible of lifting the Premier League trophy. With Chelsea looking for a world class defensive midfielder, the London club signed Kante for £32 million and handed him the number seven shirt.
Kante made his international debut for the France national team without representing for the youth teams against Russia in an international friendly and has since become a key figure in Les Bleus midfield, including helping his team to reach the Euro 2016 final.
