Lanus are an Argentine football club based Buenos Aires. Lanus was founded in 1915 as Club Atletico Lanus. The club has won two major trophies in their history, the 1996 Copa CONMEBOL and the 2007 Apertura. In 1931 the club became professional. In 1949 the club were relegated for the first time in their history to the Second Division.
Lanus play their home games in maroon and white shirts. They play their football in the Estadio Ciudad de Lanus, Buenos Aires with a capacity of 46,619 seats.

In the Copa Libertadores 2012 the club had their biggest win in international competitions as they beat Olimpia 6-0 in La Fortaleza. They were later eliminated by Vasco da Gama from Brazil. Lanus also have a basketball team in the national competition.
In 1950 the club gained promotion from the Second Division. The 1950's was the golden decade for the club as they won the second division in 1050 and came second in 1956 which was a massive achievement for the club.
