Henrik Larsson the Swedish footballer looked set to end his career at Helsingborgs, until the shock announcement that he would join Manchester United for the three months of the Swedish winter break and then rejoin Helsingborg for the rest of the season.Over his career Larsson won the Dutch Cup whilst at Feyenoord, was a runner-up in the UEFA cup with Celtic and also won the Scottish League four times, he moved onto Barcelona next where he won La Liga on two occassions and also starred for them in their UEFA Champions League win of 2006, setting up both goals. Whilst wearing the Swedish shirt of his home nation, Larsson grabbed third place at the 1994 World Cup and also appeared in other World Cup finals.Henrik was born in Helsingborg, Sweden on the 20th September 1971, he played as an out and out striker well known for his goal scoring exploits. Larsson scored 242 goals in 315 games for Celtic, in 2001 he was top scorer in Europe and winner of the golden boot.
To cap his personal achivements the Swedish Football Association named him the greatest Swedish football player of the last 50 years in 2004. It will be interesting to see how Henrik Larsson fares in the Premiership when he pulls on a Manchester United shirt for the first time in January 2007.
