With Luton Town back in top-flight action, the town went back to season 1974/75 and used that classic kit as inspiration for their 2023/24 Umbro home shirt. As such, the modern outfit was predominantly orange with a vertical band running down the left side of the body. Viewing the shirt from an audience perspective, the said band had a faded transition on the left side but had a solid navy border on the other. Speaking of navy, the accent colour also involved the prominent sleeve cuffs and the angled flat collar.

Navy accents from the broad sleeve cuffs and the raised sides of the collar gave the kit a unique look.

Geometric shapes in blue and orange joined the random pinstripes to form the whole picture of the graphics, inspired by the 1991/92 home shirt that featured such aesthetics on the sides of the body. There were many prominent football clubs back then in the town, of which Luton Wanderers and Luton Excelsior were considered to be the prominent ones. George Deacon of the Wanderers was the first to think of having a ‘town’ club. On April 11, 1885, in a town hall meeting he arranged with fellow Wanderer player John Charles Lomax, the motion to form a ‘Luton Town Football Club’ was adopted. It was also resolved that the team colours were to be pink and dark blue.

Luton Town players are nicknamed the ‘Hatters.’ The term is an embrace of the town’s historical connection to hat making, a trade that is prominent in the area since the 17th century.

The club share a heated rivalry with Watford, who generally have played in higher divisions but has an inferior record against Luton. The 2003 Football Fans Census showed that supporters also have animosity towards the fans of Queen’s Park Rangers and vice-versa.
