Sadio Mane is a Senegalese footballer who plays for the historical English club of Liverpool FC and the Senegal national team. Playing as an attacking winger or forward, Mane poses as a dangerous attacking threat through his electrifying pace and impressive eye for the goal.
Born in Sedhiou, Senegal, Mane progressed through the youth ranks of Academie Generation Foot before making his professional move to Metz in Ligue 2 which ended negatively seeing the club relegated into the Championnat National. Although Metz performed poorly throughout their relegation season, Mane was a stand out performer for the club and was bought by Red Bull Salzburg for €4 million.
In Mane's first season with Red Bull Salzburg, he played 29 matches and returned with an impressive 19 goals and subsequently continued his form for the club by recording 45 goals in just 87 matches. Gaining attention from across Europe, the Premier League came knocking in the form of Southampton who acquired his services for £11.8 million. Becoming one of the club's star players within the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons, Jurgen Klopp showed his interest in the pacey player which spurred a massive £34 million offer from Liverpool which was subsequently accepted. Mane now wears the number 19 shirt for the famous Anfield club.
Mane first represented his country at the U23 level however has since gone on to achieve over 30 appearances for Senegal and is now arguably regarded as one of their greatest players of all time.
