Marko Marin was born on the 13th of March 1989 in Yugoslavia. He began his professional career Borussia Monchengladbach where he made his debut for the club in March 2007 against Eintracht Frankfurt. In August 2008 he scored a hat-trick within the first 16 minutes of B.Monchengladbach's 8-1 demolition against VfB Fichte Bielefeld. He played 68 league matches for the club scoring eight goals. He helped the club to win the 2007-08 2. Bundesliga title. Marin signed for Chelsea in 2012 before signing a loan deal with Sevilla for the 2013-14 season.
He moved to Werder Bremen in 2009 for 8.5 million euros. He became an instant threat at the club as he teamed up with Aaron Hunt and Mesut Ozil in attack. He played 87 matches for the club scoring eight goals for the club.
In April 2012 he moved to Chelsea signing a five year deal. He made his debut for the club against Seattle Sounders in a pre-season friendly in July. He made his league debut in a League Cup match against Wolves in which they won 6-0. Marin signed a loan deal with La Liga side Sevilla for the 2013-14 season.
Marin has played for Germany U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-21 youth levels. He made his senior debut in 2008 in a 2-2 draw against Belarus and he netted his first goal against Belgium in a friendly in August 2010. He played in the 2010 FIFA World Cup where he helped the country reach third. He has won the 2009 U-21 UEFA European Championship with Germany.
