Javi Martinez is a Spanish footballer who plays for Bayern Munich and the Spain national football team. A Spanish international since 2010 Martinez was a member of the squads that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012. Javi Martinez is most notably known for being one of the most feared central defensive midfielders in the game.
Javi Martinez was born on the 2nd of September 1998 in Estella, Spain and he began his club career at local club Osasuna playing for their B side in 2005. In 2006 Javi Martinez signed for Athletic Bilbao for Ã¢â€šÂ¬6 million and he soon became a regular on the side and in his debut season his highlight was netting a double against Deportivo la Coruna in a 2-0 away win. He helped his Spanish side to the Copa del Rey final in 2009. Javi Martinez helped Athletic Bilbao to the UEFA Europa League Final in the 2011-12 season and the club were runners-up twice in 2009 and 2012 with Spaniard in the side.
In August 2012 Javi Martinez signed a five year deal with Bayern Munich for Ã¢â€šÂ¬40 million making him the most expensive Bundesliga player ever. Martinez made his debut for Bayern in a 6-1 home win over VfB Stuttgart on his 24th birthday. He scored his first goal for the club against Hannover 96 in a 5-0 home win. In his first season at the club he helped them to win the treble the UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal titles.
Having played for several Spain youth sides Javi Martinez made his Spain debut in a 3-2 win against Saudi Arabia and he was selected to play for Spain in their 2010 FIFA World Cup campaign. Having being mostly a bench player for Spain he did manage to grab the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012 titles.
