Simon Mignolet is a Belgian footballer who plays for Liverpool and the Belgium national team. Born on the 6th of March 1988 Mignolet began his club career at Sint-Truiden playing the Belgian Second Division. He helped the club to gain promotion to the Belgian First Division and he was named Belgian Goalkeeper of the Year in 2009.
Mignolet signed for English club Sunderland in 2010 signing a five year contract worth £2m. He was also linked with several other European clubs including PSV Eindhoven, FC Twente and Udinese. Mignolet mad his Sunderland debut in a 2-2 draw against Birmingham City on the 15th of August 2010 and he was named man of the match for his performance. Mignolet developed a world class reputation for being a great shot stopper.
On the 25th of June 2013 Mignolet signed a five year deal with Liverpool for a fee of £9m. He made his official league debut against Stoke City in a 1-0 win where he saved a 89th minute penalty. Mignolet is one of the best goalkeepers in the Belgium national team.
