Luka Modric plays for Spanish giants Real Madrid and he began his youth career with Dinamo Zagreb in 2002. After a season with Dinamo's youth side, he was loaned out to Bosnian club Zrinjski Mostar in 2003. He became the Bosnian Player of the League at just 18 years old where his versatile style of play was first noticed. He was loaned out again the following season but this time to Inter Zapresic in his homeland. He helped the team to promotion to the Croatian top league and was tipped as a star of the future. Modric signed for Real Madrid in 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur for £33 million.

Modric was recalled to Dinamo Zagreb in 2005 where he signed a contract until 2015. In 2006/07 he helped Zagreb to a league title and qualification for the UEFA Cup group stages after defeating Ajax in the playoff match. The 2007/08 proved a special one for the club as they won the Croatian League by 28 points and also picked up the Croatian Cup in the same year. Overall, he contributed 31 goals and 29 assists during his four seasons with the club.
Modric agreed terms with Tottenham Hotspurs in April 2008 for £16.5 million. He began his career at Spurs deployed as a deep lying playmaker. However, he was far from effective in this role and an injury saw him labelled as too lightweight for the division. Under Harry Redknapp, Modric has been positioned in a more attacking left sided role which coincided with the team's return to form at the latter end of the 08/09 campaign. The start of the 09/10 season saw Modric in fantastic form. However, a leg break in the 2-1 victory over Birmingham has sidelined him for at least six weeks.
