Montreal Impact are a Canadian professional soccer club based in Montreal, Canada. The club were founded in 2010 from the former NASL side of the same name and are known as 'Impact de Montreal' in French. They play their home games at the Saputo Stadium which holds 20,341 people, where the team have been based since 2008, in 2012 the club were the 19th franchise in MLS history and the third Canadian club after Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps.
Owned by Joey Saputo a Canadian businessman who owns Saputo the dairy products company, Montreal Impact designed a club crest which symbolises the city's French heritage with four silver stars on a blue, black and white shield with the flag of Quebec in the background.

In the clubs first official season they came 7th in their Western Conference and 12th overall summing up a solid campaign and the club has attracted several iconic players including former AC Milan and Italy captain Alessandro Nesta, Matteo Ferrari and Marco Di Vaio. The club also have a rivalry with Canadian club Toronto FC.
In regards to keeping the name 'Impact', Montreal stated its intention 'to maintain its name and global team image'. The official logo for the team was revealed at the start of a match between the NASL Montreal Impact team and the NSC Minnesota Stars on August 6th 2011.
