The Namibia national football team plays in the African Football Confederation. When playing at the Independence stadium, or other home venues, the team plays in a red strip with white details. Namibia's away strip is white with red details.
Their first international fixture was played in1989 at home when they were known as South-West Africa. They played neighbours Angola and were defeated 1-0. Nine years later they made their first appearance at the African Cup of Nations were they didn't progress past the first round.

Known locally as the Brave Warriors, Namibia's highest FIFA world ranking was 68th and came in November 1998.
On 15 July 2000 Namibia recorded their largest win in an 8-2 drubbing of Benin. 2008 saw the side's second appearance at the African Cup of Nations, however the team could not better their predecessor's first attempt again being knocked out in the first round.
