Matija Nastasic is a Serbian footballer who plays for English club Manchester City and the Serbia national team. Nastasic is most notably known for his aerial duels, passing and concentration abilities.
Nastasic was born on the 28th of March 1993 and he began his club career at Partizan Belgrade making his professional debut in 2010. The defender was loaned out to Teleoptik in 2010 before signing a permanent move to Italian club Fiorentina in 2011.
Nastasic made his professional debut in September 2011 in a 2-0 win against Bologna and he made a further 24 appearances in that season. In 2012 Nastasic signed for Manchester City from Fiorentina in an exchange with Stevan Savic. Nastasic made his debut for the club in a Champions League away match against Real Madrid and his Premier League debut in a 2-1 win against Fulham.
Nastasic competed with Joleon Lescott in the centre of defence where he was used more than the English veteran on several occasions. In his first season at the club he played 25 matches. Nastasic made his Serbia debut against Cyprus in February 2012.
