New York City FC is an upcoming American soccer team based in New York City that will compete in the MLS as of 2015. The new MLS side was officially announced as the league's franchise in May 2013 and the team's expansion rights were purchased by Premier League club Manchester City and the New York Yankees for roughly $100 million. New York City FC will be the first MLS team to be based in the city of New York as New York Red Bulls are based in New Jersey.
New York City's badge was confirmed in March 2014 revealing a circular sky blue logo with orange and dark blue trim taking inspiration from the current Manchester City and New York Yankees kits. Sky blue, orange and navy blue were confirmed as the club's home colours in March 2014.
