Formed in 1895 originally known as Pine Villa FC, they changed names in 1899 to the Oldham Athletic AFC. Oldham joined the Football League in 1907/08 and were promoted to the top of English flight a couple of years later. Boundary Park on Sheepfoot Lane in Oldham, Greater Manchester is where Oldham Athletic play their home games, the stadium has a capacity of 13,620.
The Latics originally played in red and white striped home shirts where they first had a blue home shirt in the early 20th century. The club have been FA Cup semi-finalists on three occasions and they were runners-up in the League Cup in 1990.
